East Coast operates 135 weekday long distance train services along the East Coast Main Line, linking London King's Cross, the East Midlands, Yorkshire and Humberside, North East England and Scotland. The Government established a holding company, Directly Operated Railways, to take over the East Coast franchise from 23:59 on 13 November 2009. Directly Operated Railways has one subsidiary, East Coast Main Line Company, trading as East Coast, which now operates the franchise.
