Keep It Green And Enjoy England With National Rail And Novotel
14/02/2007New 3-way partnership promotes greener travel for domestic breaks to England’s cities
National Rail has teamed up with Enjoy England and Novotel to encourage ‘green’ travel to destinations in and around England.
The promotion offers rail passengers value-for-money fares, links to Enjoy England’s comprehensive city break information for travel inspiration and special accommodation rates from Novotel.
It aims to encourage travel by train to the wide range of interesting destinations available on our doorstep, while adding value with a discounted accommodation offer from Novotel.
They could chose to visit York to explore the Jorvik Viking Centre and the York Minster and enjoy a night at the Novotel York, catch a West End show in London whilst staying at the Novotel Tower Bridge or enjoy the rich natural beauty Plymouth has to offer with a discounted rate at the Novotel Plymouth Centre.
This is the first time the organisations have worked together on such a campaign and it is envisaged this activity will provide a platform to develop further initiatives encouraging consumers to take short breaks by train around England and support National Rail’s environmentally responsible travel message. This is a perfect association with Novotel who have implemented a number of green initiatives with low energy lighting and shower heads to significantly reduce water consumption as just two examples.
National Rail Marketing Manager, Richard Flindell, said “National Rail is delighted to join forces with Enjoy England and Novotel to offer passengers a tempting springtime treat. By taking the train, they’ll be helping the environment too because travelling by rail is one of the most sustainable forms of transport.”
Enjoy England’s Marketing Executive, Tim Holt, said: “We’re pleased to support National Rail’s sustainable short breaks around England. City breaks are an ever more popular choice for Britons on holiday and eight of our top ten destinations for overnight stays are cities. We hope our partnership with National Rail and Novotel hotels will help raise awareness of the wonderful and surprising experiences that await visitors in their own country.”
