Train companies gear up to deal with possible bad weather

09/02/2012

A spokesperson for the Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC) said: “Train companies are gearing up to deal with bad winter weather and will be working with Network Rail to run empty ‘ghost’ trains and de-icer units to keep tracks and overhead cables free of snow and ice as far as possible. The whole industry will be working hard to get people from A to B as quickly and reliably as possible.

“Where snow is predicted to fall, people can log onto nationalrail.co.uk or sign-up for free Twitter alerts to find out how their train service is running.”
