ATOC responds to petition against fare rises
07/11/2011Responding to the handing over of a petition against rail fare rises by the Campaign for Better Transport, a spokesperson for the Association of Train Operating Companies said:
“The Government wants to reduce the amount of taxpayers’ money going into the railways, meaning it has had to take tough decisions on fares to guarantee vital ongoing investment in more trains, faster services and better stations.
“The industry is working with the Government to keep on cutting costs, to help limit future fare rises and offer better long-term value for money for the taxpayer.”
