ATOC responds to government call for a smooth Christmas getaway

22/12/2011

Responding to the Transport Secretary’s call for a smooth Christmas getaway for passengers, Tom Smith, chairman of the Association of Train Operating Companies, said:

“We want to help people have a happy Christmas by offering a smooth and efficient rail service when they visit family and friends. With around 20 million journeys expected to be made by rail over the festive period, staff on trains and at stations are committed to assisting and supporting passengers, particularly if they are not regular users of the network.

“Our wish to improve services is not just seasonal. Train companies work hard to make improvements for passengers throughout the year, a big part of which is the commitment by our staff to ensure people have a safe and pleasant journey.”
