Analysis and Planning

The ATOC Analysis & Planning team helps TOCs to make better informed business decisions by:

• Analysing and commenting on the rail industry’s commercial performance;
• Undertaking research into customer attitudes and the factors that influence rail demand;
• Maintaining and developing the industry’s demand forecasting framework.

Much of the work on demand forecasting is carried out on behalf of not only TOCs, but also other industry stakeholders (for example, Transport for London, Network Rail and the Department for Transport) and includes managing the work of the Passenger Demand Forecasting Council (PDFC).

The team also delivers specific strategic projects in the commercial arena on behalf of TOCs and contributes to improvements in the wider business environment through providing objective information to influence key opinion formers and stakeholders.
